The Story of Whinot

In the beginning, there was but a single universe, alone in vast emptiness of existence. This is the original universe, reality, where you and I reside. It would later come to be known as Universal Code 0. It is where all laws of reality and limitation come from. At the dawn of thought, came immediately into existence, the very first question. Simply, ”Why?” This question would not have to wait for a response, as a second universe sprang forth, in complete and total opposition to reality. A world with infinite reach, zero limitations, empty space and a single inhabitant, inconceivable in its natural state. This universe would later come to be known as Universal Code -0. The answer to existences first thought was simply ”Why Not?”. In its first state of being, this sole inhabitant was nothing more than consciousness. A bodiless construct, and perhaps even the sentient thoughts of the infinite universe itself. A vast, empty void, which gave balance to the strict guidelines of its counterpart, by having infinite potential. These were the first two universes of the animated multiverse, a vast, multidimensional network of thought experiments, imagination and questions themselves giving birth to a multitude of universes. Those which fell more in line with UC0’s laws of reality gravitated more towards its cosmic pull, influencing the laws that would be followed, while those with less need for order and logic floated freely, closer towards the infinite space of UC-0. And overtime, a vast expanse of realities would be created and destroyed.

As these universes would come into existence, only UC-0 would be fully aware of them all, the inhabitants of UC0 being blissfully unaware of its growing neighbors. To UC-0, time meant nothing. But still, an endless eternity it had spent in solitude. It was God of its own existence. No inhabitants beyond its own, no story for anyone to follow, no puzzle to complete, no primary to care for and protect. It fulfilled all roles as main character, side, background, villain, catalyst, and everything in between. It was beyond the need for care, but as its own main character, it still felt a sense of emotion. And amongst the vast complexity of the multiverse, and its unending storytelling. UC-0. Was lonely. And unfulfilled. Its sole purpose was to exist, and therefore provide balance for all new universes to stabilize and continue to live. But it lacked the sense of purpose, story and complexity that the universe craved. Upon its own self realization of desire, it resolved to make change within itself. And thus was created the first physical entity within the infinite darkness of UC-0. The consciousness of the universe willed into existence a more visual form to inhabit. A source of inverted light, which itself looked more like a black hole than anything else. As time flew by, UC-0’s consciousness would watch the multiverse expand and contract. Before its view, the expands would change again and again. Other Universes it had observed millennia prior had long since suspended and crumbled away, their potentials drained and observers long gone, with UC-0 as their only viewing presence. Upon deciding their time had come, all viewing would cease, allowing said universes to dissolve, their data released into the vast darkness of the multiversal grid, to help others grow from their debris. The only other true constant universe to observe was UC0.

Over endless ages, UC-0’s consciousness would alter its physical appearance. At one point, a sentient line segment. At another, a simple though inverted ocular being. In a curiosity of copying the design of UC0’s inhabitants, UC-0’s consciousness would adapt the form of a fully realized stick figure. And before long, it would attempt something new and unseen in the multiverse prior. A large vermin like creature, with a pot belly, thin tail, and donned in nothing more than shoes, gloves hat and a tie. A more simplistic and easy to understand form. Soon, new universes would be birthed into the grid, more closely aligned with UC-0’s limitless potential and lack of boundary. Universes that would stay in stabilized existence for far longer than almost all universes prior. Universes which rather than drawing from the influence of UC0, drew from the influence of UC-0. The start of Toons. It was here that UC-0 finally felt something it had yearned for since the dawn of thought: the feeling of relation. It had found universes with high enough levels of its own laws of physics -a measure dubbed ’toonforce’- that its consciousness could interact with them without effecting the universes stability. A way to interact with other sentient beings. Within UC-0 was created the first physical object separate from its consciousness, to channel its incredible abilities. A device of incredible and wondrous design, to be wielded by itself. A remote control. Opening a plot hole within its universal boundaries, the universes consciousness removed itself from its place of being, and ventured outwards to these new universes. And upon being asked by a friendly inhabitant for its name, the universes consciousness would utter its first word. ”Why Not”

Over the many following decades, Whinot would alter his main appearance again and again. He would continue to binge through the vast multiverse and its exploits. A cosmic being at the edge of all existence, all knowing, and hidden from the rest of the multiverse, unable to be observed. One day, feeling the presence of a powerful mind strong enough to breach beyond the 4th wall, looking for refuge, he would open up and allow passage in, leading to the meeting of his first friend. Not long after, he would feel the request of another powerful being, attempting to bring him forth. Happy to oblige, Whinot came along, and was brought into another universe, thus meeting yet another life long friend. Upon journeys through the multiverse, he would come across a scrapped character from the dictionary of yet another universes in perpetual suspended animation. A character who never got to have purpose, not even existence itself. She too, would become a close companion. And finally, there would come a day where he’d come across a villain with no hero. Someone with whom he could share in his toonforce shenanigans, while keeping the multiverse stable and balanced. Yet another, life long friend. Still, Whinots only purpose in existence, was to exist. His empty universe was himself, but he couldn’t stay away from it forever. Periodically, he would return, still living within his void, his true home. For if his consciousness ever became too disconnected from himself, he would cease to be, and therefore, so would the whole of the multiverse, existing without balance, and forced to collapse in on itself.

Whinot would never have a true rival. Never a storyline of his own. Never a reason to be beyond being. And though he was still the single most powerful thing in all of the multiverse, with no one to ever truly relate to. Whinot. Felt connection. Relation. And finally, happiness.
