A Year of Memory

The above photos are from various projects, both photographic and film based, all dedicated to the subject of Memory. The Cyanotypes tell the story of a pleasant memory during my very first semester of college, walking around the campus at 3AM, taking liminal space photos, many of them faded as if theyve become hazy and somewhat forgotten. The film snippets are all of a film project by the name of ‘Sidewalk Chalk’, a short film which centers around the feeling of nostalgia and returning to a child like mindset of wonder and simple fun. Finally, the collage cut outs are a physical representation of a mental image, always changing the more one tries to lay out the finer details of things they often forget to focus on intently.

Description

Sidewalk Chalk is a time lapse film centered around a poem by the same name. It was created one photo after the next, in a continuous stream, over the course of six and a half hours.

Rather than creating something deeply profound with the poem chosen, The visuals within the short film are a direct 1:1 with the writing, keeping the message as obvious as it was written.
